Cooking is one of my favourite past-time. Tasting different delicacies tantalises me to roll up my sleeves, put on my apron and start messing the kitchen. However, with the time constraint I have, and my household is maid-less, I usually explore easy and simple cooking. Best if the dish can be served within 30 minutes of preparation and cooking time, otherwise it should not take me more than 30 minutes hands-on at the stove. For many busy city dwellers, whether you have twins like me or not, who are always pressed for time, easy and fast cooking would fit our lifestyle better.
Many of my recipes came from my mum who always “agar-agar” on the quantity for the ingredients, and that does not make my life any easier. I need to put the “agar-agar” into proper volume and weight. This is no easy task and I have to do many fine-tunings. Even for recipes from cook books and food sites, I have to try several times to get the right texture and taste that suits me and my family. Thereupon, all recipes published here have gone through rounds of trial and errors, testing and tasting before they are out on the site. I called them “Taste Buds Recipes” since they have been sampled by several taste buds as well. Be that as it may, taste and preference on texture are very personal thing. If you like something sweeter, just add more sugar or salt or spices if you prefer more savoury. Just adjust the condiment to suit your taste buds! Disclaimer: at your own taste buds’ risk too!
Plus, my sons at month 13, have decided to jog my patience and creativity in cooking their food by abandoning their simple daily porridge. As a result, I have also embarked into the toddlers’ gastronomic adventures. Low or no salt, low or no sugar and as natural as possible are the guidelines of all the recipes I have came up for them. When offering new food to tots, do watch out for potential allergy reaction.
Have fun and let’s travel with us in this gastronomical journey!
